Impressionism Meets Pixel Art
While painting landscapes, I take inspiration from memories and experiences of places and events in my life and communicate them abstractly to facilitate the intimate, personal, emotional connections between the artist and viewer, translating the joy and beauty of nature without worry of objective form. These impressionist landscapes investigate the subtlety of memory, utilizing the language pixel art and dreamlike bokeh photography to create a narrative structure for the viewer to dive into.
In crafting my compositions, I focus on strong impasto textures created with a palette knife and other tools, with a heavy attention to texture, detail, and color so that each piece becomes a continuous act of discovery, one where the experience of the painting itself changes, depending on lighting, distance, and even touch.
